Graduate students researching in this area take a variety of approaches to religion and its complex interactions with childhood, gender, and sexuality. These approaches are informed by methods including women’s and gender studies, queer theory, trans theory, critical masculinity studies, and historical and critical perspectives on childhood and the family. Students may combine these methods with close attention to a range of sources relating to gender, sexuality, and childhood.
