This RELS colloquium will be a special student-lead—and student-only!—Reading Discussion centering on the themes of the upcoming Center for Ancient Studies Symposium on “The Language of the Past and the Future of Ancient Studies."
The readings to be discussed are essays by three of the conference speakers:

- William Hanks, Converting Words: Maya in the Age of the Cross (Berkeley: University of California Press, 2010), 1-22.
Graduate students from other departments are very welcome to attend! Those interested should contact Phillip Webster for paper and/or PDF copies of the readings.
