New Book: Print and the Urdu Public: Muslims, Newspapers, and Urban Life in Colonial India by Megan Eaton Robb

Congratulations to Prof. Megan Eaton Robb, the Julie and Martin Franklin Assistant Professor of South Asian Religions, on the publication of her new book Print and the Urdu Public: Muslims, Newspapers, and Urban Life in Colonial India, out this week with Oxford University Press!

The book is an in-depth analysis of a rare and understudied archive of an Urdu newspaper published in a small town and is the first in-depth study of how lithographic newspapers were produced in colonial India. The book demonstrates the importance of conceptions of space and time in defining the boundaries of public conversations in colonial India.
